The Return of Michael Myers is a 1988 slasher film and the fourth installment of the Halloween film series, directed by Dwight H. Little and written by Alan B. McElroy.
The central plot focuses on Michael Myers returning home after escaping while being transferred from one mental institution to another, to kill his niece Jamie Lloyd (Danielle Harris). Jamie tries to lead a normal life, but she can't escape the vengeance of her murderous uncle. It's Halloween night, and Jamie is trick-or-treating with her step-sister, Rachel...little do they know that Michael is following them. Rushing to protect her is Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) and Sheriff Meeker.
Trivia: After viewing a rough edit it was decided that the movie was too soft, so they brought in special effects wizard John Carl Buechler for one day of extra "blood" filming. The thumb in the forehead and the redneck's head getting twisted were both done by him.
