Richard Gere and Topher Grace star in this spy thriller about the murder of a US senator which the FBI believes is the work of a ruthless Soviet assassin and convince a former CIA agent to track him again.
CIA director Tom Highland (Martin Sheen) contacts a former agent, Paul Shepherdson (Richard Gere) when a US senator (Ed Kelly) is found murdered, with the evidence pointing to the handiwork of a Soviet hitman named Cassius, whom Shepherdson had believed he had killed several years ago. Highland pairs Shepherdson with a new young partner, FBI agent Ben Geary (Topher Grace), whose thesis was on Cassius, and the pair start work on the investigation. As their work progresses, however, Geary begins to suspect that Shepherdson himself may be Cassius, but as he gets closer to the truth, and another Russian operative enters the mix, Geary finds himself in mortal danger.
