A woman (Madeleine Stowe) blind for 20 years with new partially restored vision, is in grave danger when she peeks out her door and "sees" a figure, and is then stalked by a mysterious man she suspects murdered her neighbour.
Emma tries to convince detective John Hallstrom (Aidan Quinn) and his partner Tom Ridgely (James Remar) to ivestigate. At first, Hallstrom dismisses Emma as a nutcase, but when the cops finally arrive on the scene, they find the guy murdered. Emma herself is in danger, because she's the only person who can identify the killer. When the killer begins to stalk Emma, Hallstrom has her placed under police protection.
Director Michael Apted was nominated for a Crystal Globe award for the film at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and screenwriter Dana Stevens was nominated for Best Motion Picture at the Edgar Allan Poe Awards. Emmy Award-winning actress Laurie Metcalf also had a role in the film.
