David Cronenberg directs Jeff Goldblum as Seth Brundle, a brilliant scientist who invents a device capable of transporting inanimate objects through thin air. He invites journalist Veronica Quaife (Gina Davis) to document his revolutionary work. The machine, Seth believes, is capable of teleporting living organisms. He begins drinking heavily one night and, throwing caution to the wind, teleports himself.
At first, the experiment appears successful. But slowly, things begin to change.
