Employing numerous film techniques from black and white and video, to hand held Super 8 and animation, director Oliver Stone paints a portrait of our culture’s obsession with sensationalised violence.
Mickey (Woody Harrelson) and Mallory (Juliette Lewis), two lovers with a passion for murder, embark down Route 666 on a killing spree, scoring 50 dead bodies before being caught. All this is covered by a headline hungry television news journalist, Wayne Gale, (Robert Downey Jr.) and his show, "American Maniacs," which attempts to broadcast a Super Bowl Sunday interview with the new media darlings from their prison cell.
The question is, will Mickey and Mallory play nice for the camera?
